It was first mentioned in 1296 and
the first wooden bath house was built in 1592.
It became more important after 1950, when poliomyelitis acuta
started to be treated here.
In the same year, Sister Kenny visited the
spa.
The spa is sought after particularly for the curative effects
of the natural spring – thermal sulphur water, which is 36.8°C hot. There are 6
springs in total.
The Spa Velké Losiny is sought by the visitors
and spa guests prirnarily for the medical effects
of the local mineral
waters, but also for its pleasant location in the foothills
of the Hrubý
Jeseník Mountains. The history of balneology in Velké Losiny stretches back to
the 16th century, the present-day spa therefore resumes the best tradition
with the use

license, including lending of the fishing tackle.
In winter, the surrounding
country offers many ski lifts as well as cross-country skiing possibilities.
The well-known ski centre, Červenohorské sedlo, is only 20 kilometers
away.
Because Velké Losiny is also a historical town,
the local unique Renaissance manor-house
or the well-known handmade paper
manufactory also tempt to be visited.
